After a couple of slow years Im thinking of giving my game a boost this spring. So I have decided to spend the money to go to REAL professional trainer to help me out.

After some research, I have chosen Leadbetter´s academy. It looks very good and they have some interesting intensive clinics, but I cant find any reviews on it, so can you help me out ?

It is worth the money ?

I can see they have several academies in different locations - are there any difference or should I just go for the nearest ?

Please give me you input if you have tried the Leadbetter academy

I have a friend who attended the 3 day mini-school at Red Sky Golf Club in Vail. He said that he enjoyed the experience; but for the cost, he wished he had sought out a local instructor with whom he could have worked on his game over the entire summer.

Be realistic, how much you gonna learn in 3 days? If that were the case, we'd all be on tour, just go 5 or 6 times and get your card...

I dont know anything about that school, but I'd imagine a summer with an instructor twice a month will be cheaper and MUCH more beneficial to your game.

Your money would be better spent going to a local pro that can get to know your swing over time and can help you gradually improve your game. At a 3-day clinic, you're going to retain a fraction of what they teach you, and once the clinic is over you are on your own to implement it. With a local pro, he/she can monitor your progress every few weeks to make sure you are staying on track.

If you are trying to improve from scratch to +3, then maybe a top-of-the-line instructor is what you need, but if you are a double-digit handicap trying to work down to single digit, any quality instructor should be more than able to assist you.

Since you're not actually going to receive lessons from David Leadbetter, I don't completely see the point, unless you really want to do it.

I've never been to a 3 day school but I've talked to several people who went to 3-day short game schools. They said it was the best investment. It included rounds of golf so it's not like you were practicing the whole time.
