:
LONDON (AP) -- Heather Clarke, the wife of golfer Darren Clarke, died Sunday after a long battle with cancer. She was 39 Darren Clarke said he will continue his break from golf and Paul McGinley, a close friend of the Clarke family, said he also has withdrawn from this week's PGA Championship. Throughout her illness, Heather Clarke insisted her husband continue playing, but he decided to stop after the British Open three weeks ago so he could be with her and their two children, 8-year-old Tyrone and 5-year-old Conor. "Heather's courage and bravery throughout the last two years when she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer has been an inspiration," Clarke said in a statement. "Heather never complained once throughout her ordeal and we will all miss her greatly. She was a wonderful and enormously supportive wife, mother and friend."

Our very best wishes to an outstanding member of the golfing community. You are in our prayers Darren.

My thoughts go out to Darren and his family.

He is truly one of the true gentlmen of the sport of golf. A real credit to himself, his family and the game.

We should spare a thought for not only Darren but all the people who's lives are affected by this cruel cruel disease.

It's been a tough year for some really good guys out there, in terms of losses of loved ones. Let's hope that this is a trend that does not continue...

I shed a tear yesterday when I heard the news. Heather was only 39 years old, and she was a very genuine woman from all the things I've heard. It just seems so unfair at times when someone's life is taken far too early.

My thoughts and prayers definitely go out to Darren Clarke and family.

Everyone knew this was coming, which you would think makes it easier. But it doesn't. Naturally I never met Darren and I know I never will. And of course I never met Heather. But for some reason this news makes me very sad. I love watching Darren play and I am inspired by his devotion to his wife.

    • Without knowing the study at all, this could be more of a reflection of who is tournament ready and who isn't. If you have a quick trigger, it could mean your swing is working really well. Fidgeting, lots of rehearsals, maybe means your swing's not functioning as well as you'd like it to and you need more time to feel it all out before you hit your shot.
    • A study done by the European Tour shows spending less time over the ball produces better shots.  This makes sense. I can see where if you are over the ball a long time you lose the ability to make a more athletic swing. There is also the possibility of just overthinking the shot while over the wall as well and not being in the right headspace.
    • I recently picked up a vintage Ping Hoofer Lite carry bag.  I am not sure how old it is but estimate it is probably from around 2012 or so? I cannot figure out how to adjust the straps! I am going to try to attach a picture of the bag and will also describe it below. I cannot figure out how to adjust the straps in a way that makes the bag comfortable to carry.  The bag also seems to want to be more upright/ vertical than how you would normally carry a bag like this. I have tried to search this site and others on the web but almost all info is on the newer ping Hoofer bags which have quite a different design. The bag is pretty minimal in terms of pockets and has no handle on the top.  It has 2 backpack straps that are not connected to each other.  They are connected to the top of the bag and in the middle of the bag above the primary ball/ gear pocket. Any feedback appreciated, thanks for your help!
