Welcome, alot of good people in here that really know their stuff about the game. I'm also waiting for the same thing. Got about 10 inches right now. Even when it does melt off the course will be a mess.

Dayton? And you're complaining about winter? I've played 4 times since Saturday at Mound in Miamisburg. Saturday was a bit cold (16F when we teed off) but it was tolerable. Monday and Tuesday were beautiful. Today was a little chilly but not bad. I can't wait until tomorrow. The high's supposed to be 40! Looks like a fair amount of snow in the forecast starting Friday so I'll probably be spending a lot of time at The Practice Center in Franklin, waiting for the snow to melt so I can play again. All in all, this winter hasn't been bad at all. As long as there's no snow on the greens I play regardless of the temp. Just remember, thermal underwear is your friend.

I tend to take divots when I hit my irons. Frozen ground is very bad for my elbows. I don't mind the cold, just the hard ground.

I knew this was coming so I thought maybe if I'd OD on golf last week it might help get me through it. I played at least 18 holes every day including 27 on Thursday. It didn't work. This is only my 2nd day away from the game and I'm already going through withdrawal. Looks like the snow's going to be with us for the foreseeable future too. WAH!! Oh well. Off to the driving range. That sucks too, though. The tees are heated but with the range covered in snow it's really hard to see your ball after you hit it. When it's like this I spend most of my time hitting wedges to the practice greens. It's all good. Just wait until warm weather. All those guys that took the winter off will be no match for my killer short game. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    • I have one in my bag. I put it in there for travel purposes, so if my clubs wind up not where I am I can find out where they are and hopefully get them back more easily. It now stays in there. I'm generally not too concerned about them going walkabout like this - I don't leave them unattended. I was one time at Bethpage waiting to sign in when someone came out shouting if anyone had seen their clubs since they had disappeared while they were signing in. I now leave them in my car until I'm done with signing in and go get them afterwards.
    • Just listened to episode 19 on grip strength. Very interesting stuff. I missed what the long drive competitors grip strength is, but presumably very high.  I suspect that part of the correlation between grip strength and speed is that general body strength is likely correlated well with club head speed and it's difficult to do a full body workout without going to town on your grip. Deadlifts are frequently recommended as a good exercise to do for golf and for a lot of people grip strength is the limiting factor on what they can deadlift. Doing deadlifts will improve your grip strength, so quite plausibly grip strength and club head speed are both caused by making yourself stronger.  Do you have any charts about how grip pressure changes through the swing? I'd be interested to see that.  Lastly, last week I played a tournament round and as I played was thinking about my grip strength and I noticed I was gripping it pretty hard. Then I realized after the round (I did not play very well at all) that I had been very tense throughout my body and I'm now wondering if that tension is the cause of my poor play. I have five tournament rounds and three casual rounds in the last three months. tournament rounds are 84, 81, 80, 81, and 81. Casual rounds are 71, 70, and 72. I wonder if that's caused by tension making it past my wrists. That's a long way of saying the last little bit Erik added rang true with me.  Great episode!

    • Eric, Man, I'm sorry. This video is just too damned boring. I don't know what's going on like half the time. I've tried to watch it a couple of times but I get like 5 to 10 minute in and realize I'm thinking about what I'm going to make for dinner or if I should do laundry on Saturday or if I should do it on Sunday. Then I try to restart it and pay attention and my mind wanders again.  I just can't get through it. Sorry, man.
