Tonight at the range I scuffed my fairly new (yet to play a round with) driver . The shot that did it hit high on the clubface and I think the ball had some grains of sand stuck to it. Whatever the case, it really did a number! Wish they'd clean the balls off after collecting them. I'd post a pic but I can't find my camera. Should I try to buff it out? Again the placement is high on the face and shouldn't interfere all that much with a normal shot.

Otherwise, I am loving my 9.5degree Diamana stiff shaft Sasquatch. Hit about 500 balls with it. Straight as an arrow and LONG. Can work it left to right pretty good as well. No joke- I used to hit about 3 fairways on a normal round but expect that to triple or quadruple!

Also want to greet everyone, as I am new to this board. My username is to remind myself of a tendency I am working hard to rid myself of.

I know how you feel, but it probably won't affect the performance at all. Welcome.

Ditto. And no, you can't buff it out. My SQ has a slight scratch in the same place.

Clean the range ball before you set it on the tee. Horrible range balls are one of the reasons I avoid the range.

iacas,

It is very easy to buff the scratches out of the face of a driver. All you need is some very fine synthetic steel wool stripping pads from a home improvement store. It must be synthetic, do not use true steel wool. Under some cold running water, gently rub the steel wool over the entire face of the driver in one direction. When you stop, the scratches will be gone or at least far less apparent. Be careful to avoid the painted areas on the crown, because the steel wool will "brush" the paint as well as the metal. I do this every two months or so on my drivers, and it works perfectly.

iacas,

Great tip... I've got a scratch on the face of my r7 460 that happened the very first time I took it out to the (very cheap and Tin Cup-ish) range. It's bugged me ever since...

iacas,

ditto.. matter of fact I charge 10 euros to do this to drivers for my customers..

and after I polish the faces with the steel wool I take autosol which is a metal polish (I called them and spoke with a Dr. Gutthof and he assured me that it would not harm the titanium on the club) that you use with a soft cloth I use the towels that they use to polish cars with and it works wonders!!!! also dont forget that toothpaste is a great polish too..

    • Mostly pull cuts to slices. Some random pull draw/hooks pending of I hit the toe.
    • What's the rest of that story? Where was the ball going?
    • The criticisms are starting already 🤣 U.S. Open pro criticizes Shinnecock green conditions: 'Bumpy' After playing his first practice round at the 2026 U.S. Open, Michael Kim offered a less-than-glowing review of Shinnecock's "bumpy" greens.   The sand, I don't care about that. If the greens didn't come back as well for latest aerification, that would be a bit of a blunder on Shinnecock I think.
    • Well, if your frame of reference spins twice during the swing, then Bryson's ab/adduction is more like 780 degrees so there! (Yes I'm being silly, but not sure it's any sillier than what your pal Andy is doing...)
    • Update: Brandon Sorsby has decided to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. He will not play for Texas Tech in the upcoming season.  From my perspective, I think he did the right thing. I hope he gets the correct help for his gambling addiction. I say the right thing, because I would be worried that the stress from all of this now and throughout the entire year would not be beneficial towards his mental health.  If an NFL team picks him up, then there really isn't any pressure for him to play immediately. He can work on himself and his game for the NFL.  From Texas Tech,  "Texas Tech will continue to provide the support and recovery resources Brendan requires on this journey. Furthermore, Texas Tech will not seek return of any amounts already paid to Brendan through his NIL agreements with the University," Campbell wrote. "We wish our best to Brendan, and we offer our prayers to him and his family as he chases his dreams at the next level. This has been an unbelievably painful experience for us all, but I know that his true, underlying character and lessons learned through this experience will ultimately bring him great success on the field of play and in life." Which, I also the right thing to do.
