haha and thats why finding a shaft over the internet is hard!

I agree Ft-IQ is high launch. Project X shafts driver shafts are really good. I just tested the 6.5 and it is a spin killing machine. My trajectory was flat, with lose spin. Lower spin than a whiteboard with great feel. Highly recommended.

Thanks for all of your help guys!

Another shaft I'm thinking about checking out is the Fujikura Rombax Z708. It looks like a god one, although a very high priced one.

I haven't thrown the idea of keeping my burner 09 just yet... but if I'm going to do that, I've gotta find the shaft that works.

I'm almost to the point I'd like to find the shaft I love and always keep it - changing only the head if I want a new driver. I read that the Burner 09 I have is a low spin driver so I might want to hang on to it... although the FT-IQ looks like a beast.

Let me ask this... how particular are you guys with your clubs? For example, last season I was a little disheartened when I placed my bag too close behind me during an iron shot and on the way down I hit my driver... leaving a scrape/dent where the crown meets the bottom... it's not a big dent. It's really small actually, it's just that I notice it and my flawless paint job is no longer flawless. Would that bother you?

How much can a shaft decrease the spin rate? Obviously it depends on the shaft but, a low spinning shaft like a whiteboard or the pm702 that someone talk about earlier in the thread. How much can it affect the spin rate?

Quite a bit. Flex point, stifness, and kick can all affect launch and spin. Take a ladies flex shaft and a lond drive XX shaft into a simulator some time with the same head, and look at the difference between the spin rates.

Thanks for all of your help guys!

the 7Z08 is a killer shaft... played one in a 3 wood for a while and it absolutely smokes it.. similar to the whiteboard in my opinion.

As for the scrape, that would drive me nuts. If i say got a brand new driver and i put a scratch on it, i can hardly look at it.. regardless of if it affects playability or not, it just annoys me Watch out with the IQ as well, its gonna want to draw the ball, i can hardly move the ball to the right with my buddys IQ. If you wanna get a real low spin driver, check out a TM tour issue V1 burner TP, or a SuperQuad 282, then toss a PM702 in it. That would be the definition of knuckle ball...

Thanks LAX. You've been a big help. I may go hit some drivers when demo days comes around... but I'm leaning towards keeping my burner and shaft shopping.

The dent really does bother me too... not that it affects the driver, just because I know it's there. It kinda sucks... like if you have a scratch on your car even though it drives fine, haha. But if I replace my driver with an identical new driver, my wife will think I'm nuts!

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
