My wife has a 6-month sabbatical coming up in a couple of years and we're talking about spending it somewhere in South America for cost-of-living purposes. I'd love to be able to golf while I'm there if it's not too pricey. Argentina is a strong contender; anyone have experience?

I've never played in Argentina, but I've played in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Venezuela. Venezuela had the best layouts but honestly all the rest were in good shape but kinda boring. Also everything is private so you need to stay at a decent hotel to hook you up or have something arranged before you leave. Usually a friend of a friend of a friend is a member someplace and they like to show off that they know someone who's a member,,,so just speak up let everyone know you're a golfer and somebody will get you in.

One bit of advice...clubs are usually available but bring your own, shoes, balls and glove...I played in Paraguay in November with a great set of Carlos Franco's old clubs but with range balls, sneakers & no glove. Give your proV's to the caddy when you're done...the kid can sell them for more than your tip.

    • Day 2: Worked on distance wedge swing feels. The feel for me is to keep the upper body down more while straightening the lead leg.
    • Day 18 (September 22).  I understand the two club drill better, and was alternating that and hitting a few smooth 6-iron shots;  indoors, off a mat, into the net.  I spent about 20 minutes on this thus far tonight.
    • I don't know your family or work situation, but have you considered relocating to Arizona?  I was out there the past month or so and played quite a few times;  it's hot, but not humid.   Or, if your house is sufficient size, consider setting up an indoor practice area, so at least when the weather or your schedule isn't cooperating, you can still hit a few. ... said Shindig, who has routinely disappeared for months, sometimes a year or more, at a time because of getting busy at work and just quietly sobs to himself as he walks past the room where his mat and net are during that time.  Dang, I need to not allow that to happen again.
    • Day 21 (22 Sep 25) - long day of meetings, took it easy and did some mirror work this evening….giving my left foot a well deserved break.
    • Day 39 9-22 Practiced backswing tonight without moving head. Recorded face on. Hit a few foam balls.
