Hey everyone,

I just reshafted my irons and everything went great. SOOOOO, I decided to reshaft my driver (partly because I wanted to see if I could do it... I failed pulling the shaft out miserably and broke the tip off my V2.

Part 1 - I have (had) a UST V2 Tour X flex shaft in my driver. Since I broke about 1.25" off the tip pulling the head off (please, I already feel like an idiot), I would like to put that shaft on my 3 wood. Im hesitant because of the already heavy stiffness before I broke the tip. Will the accidental tipping make the shaft TOO stiff to use on my 3 wood?

Part 2 - I would like to re-install my Stiff Graphite Design Pershing 75 into my driver (professionally pulled). But when I inserted the shaft into my driver head I noticed it wasn't as snug into the hosel (sp?) as I expect. It wasnt super loose, but fully inserted - it moved probably 1/64th of an inch. Can I reinstall the shaft as is, or do I need to ad shims or ditch the shaft?

I appreciate any help.

Since I am DIYer this is only a minor set-back and am eager to try again...

1. A V2 shaft should be trimmed 1" when used for a 3 wood, so your extra 1/4" will make it a little stiffer, but probably not noticeable.

2. There is a product that Golfsmith or Golfworks sells called "shaft beads", which is probably nothing more than fine silica sand. When you mix it in with your epoxy, it helps to fill in around the shaft for a tight fit.

Basically what you did was tip the v2 1.25" therefore increased the stiffness significantly, try it out and see how it goes worse case if indeed it is too stiff you pull it and install something else, worth giving it a shot. As for the Pershing shaft see if you can get a shim for it, reason being that epoxy is meant to hold it in place not act as a filler, the stress caused by being lose will cause the epoxy to fail.

What driver head are you using, we can lookup the hosel diameter. Do you happen to know the tip diameter of the Pershing, .335 or .350?

I agree with the others, it's standard to tip that shaft 1" for a 3wd install, so you should be fine.

I have an Adams Speedline Driver. The hosel is .335 and the Pershing was .335 when I purchased it new. It was pulled and cleaned, they may have cleaned it a little thin.
