ok i'm goin to make a long story as short as possible. I am 24 and have been playing since i was little(dont remember the actual year) I play RH but i do everything in life LH. Never really did any thinking about til last week when i was playing with a LH putter for fun in golf galaxy and it looked and felt real comfortable and rolled the ball real well. So anyway i bought the putter and absolutely love it, ok now i will putt lefty, makes sense. just for shits and giggles i wanted to video tape me swinging lefty. now i have never hit a ball lefty. I am also no where near a teaching professional but i know more than average i would say. i would say lefty swing is fundementally stronger than my swing now! what do you guys think?

i think i need to get through this season, try and play some good golf and next winter really investigate this. i think if i try and change now i will be working my way through the prime of the season instead of playing and enjoying it.

its tough to tell without seeing you hit a ball. practice swings are just that...practice. they don't translate well to actually striking the ball. pick up a cheap set of lefty clubs and play a practice round. that's the only way to find out.

If I had the choice, I'd go back and learn to play left handed. I think the golf swing is in reverse to begin with. The left hand for a right handed player is the hand that leads, how much sense does that make?

I say, swing and putt what feels best, and if those are opposite, then so be it. There's no rule that says you can't swing right handed and putt left.

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
    • Day 47 - 2024-11-16 Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛
    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter
