I know this has been discussed. I searched this site, yet could not find any threads. So I apologize for asking same questions. I went to the range today. First time hitting balls since last Oct. It was crowded, so I had to use the upper level. And it was raining pretty hard and windy. I nornally hit my 7 iron around 140 and 9 iron 110. Yet my 7 barely made the 100 yard signs that were positioned and my 9 iron shots barely 75,which is what I hit my S wedge. Could those signs be accurate? And how much do their balls make a difference in yardage? Also could being upper level make a difference as does the rain? I can understand being rusty and not hitting that great, maybe losing 5 to 10/15 yards. But losing 30 - 40 yards? I also was trying the SAT method, although my hips weren't sliding forward in sync yet. But leaning towards the taget on backswing and then the opposite on the down, through impact, I felt I was striking the ball more accurately. I even tried the old way and that wasn't as good as the SAT.

* First workout of the year.
* Rainy.
* Hitting from second level on windy day.
* Is driving range using last year's balls in early bd weather?

Too many unusual things at play. Wait for a sunny day with low breeze before you get too excited.

For a quick check, go to a football or soccer field with PW and 8-iron and hit a dozen balls. What is the yardage the shots carry?

Focus, connect and follow through!
