I just got a Nike STR8 driver at a very low price. Its loft is 11.5 degrees. However, it came with a ladies flex Nike stock SQ shaft. I am going to pull the shaft out and need a replacement.

My swing speed tops out at around 80-82 mph and I have a slow takeaway and a moderately fast downswing. When I mishit the ball, I normally end up with a push.

Here are some of the shafts I have in stock:

**NOTE: All of these shafts are A or Senior flex.**

Pershing 55 grams
Arthur X Caliber 65 grams
Accuflex Assassin 2
SMT Miridio
Swing Science 360 65 grams
Enzo Zone 60

Appreciate any suggestions or recommendations on a shaft for this Nike STR8 driver.

It really should not make much difference, but the driver I purchased is the Nike SQ Dymo2, not the STR8 Fit.

Ask to be fitted for a shaft at the pro shop. You wont regret it.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

You can have the stock shaft tipped an inch. Actually, this is a great thing to do, it serves 3 purposes...

1. It will make the L flex into an A flex.
2. It will lower the kick point, and launch the ball higher.
3. It will make the club shorter, and easier to hit on center.

I had my driver shaft pretty customized. I have a True Temper EI-70, which started life as an R flex. I chose it because it was one of the stiffer shafts marked "R". Because of this, it was already fairly stiff and just 79g. It was cut down until it became an X flex, and then some butt length was added, bringing the playing length to 44". It now plays as an X with a mid-high kickpoint, so the ball launches about 14°, with low spin. It was 45", but after removing another inch, I increased distance dramatically. My clubmaker said that it was because the tip was too soft at 45", and it was bending forward, and I was hitting high on the face, and launching it too high.

Shanks A Million, thank you for the recommendation. I will pull out the stock shaft today and try tipping it an inch.

Shanks...... I have an EI 70 shaft in an BB Warbird 4+ wood I no longer use. In fact I've been thinking of putting it back in the bag. Great shafts.....at one time thay were played heavly on tour. Don't know why TT went away from the graphite shafts. That tip sounds like a good idea for neonlew. Putting in that Pershing 55 wouldn't be bad either.

Driver.... Nickent DX Evolver V2 65 stiff /07 Burner YS6+ stiff .
4 wood..... Nickent 4DX
Hybrids.....Tour Edge Geomax 22* 25* 28*
Irons.....TM R7 6-P + AW,SW,LW
Putter.....Odyssey White Hot XG 2 BallBag.......Callaway ORG 14 A.L.I.C.E. Ball........Bridgestone e6 / Srixon Soft Feel...

Indeed, they still make graphite shafts, just under a different name. Graffaloy is the current graphite shaft offered by True Temper. The EI-70 is one of the best shafts ever made. It launches low, and keeps the spin down. I've had it for several years, in three different drivers. I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.
