I'm hitting my irons WAY off the heel, shanking a few here and there. Tried moving further away from ball, closer to ball, nothing is helping. Also hitting a medium sized fade, need to straighten that out.

Sometimes the club is turning in my hand(more shut) after impact as well, any advice there? I can get a picture of my grip if needed.

I'm not a teacher, I'm only 14- but I have some observations. You seem laid off at the top, I'm pretty sure you should straighten up your right wrist? Not sure. Haha.

You over swing the club as well, try and shorten the back swing. Also, I can't really say 100%, but the ball looks a little too far forward in your stance.

I sometimes get those kinds of impacts too. I just work on keeping my head still and my ball position. Perhaps right now, if your ball is too far forward, you're subconsciously reaching to the ball, causing some problems. I don't know, but that's just my two cents. Or also, your arm seems to be connected to your body throughout your swing, when it should be letting go towards impact. I think you should work on loosening up that right arm.

Thanks for the advice.

The thing about the overswinging though is that I'm flexible enough that in order to let the club finish short of parallel or at parallel, I either have to cut the shoulder turn or wrist cock short it seems. But maybe there's a change I can make so that I can get a full shoulder turn and wrist cock without being past parallel?

I'm curious about the laid off position though.

Thanks for the advice.

shoulder turn won't put you past parallel, wrist hinge does and then you end up losing width in the downswing if you arn't careful.

Your shoulder turn seem a bit 'incomplete'. Your shoulder blades should face the target at the top of your back swing. If you practice your swing in front of a mirror you can see when your shoulder turn is complete. Also, this will tell you how much to break (set?) your wrists at the top of your back swing to get your club to parallel. Remember to keep your left arm straight.

Hope this hlps

over the top too much......pulled inside the corrected by going over............hard pulls, weak slices??? ball position with the iron looked farther ahead than with the driver??? slow it down and start it off on the correct path, then pull the string and let it go..

It looks like I'm rolling the face open a bit on the takeaway, anybody else seeing that?

Also looks like I need to lower my downswing plane a touch.

I'd agree that I need to lower my downswing plane, but at least with the 7 iron, the shaft is in the same place at impact that it was at address. With the driver I'm definitely a little OTT. You think my backswing is too fast?

What I can't figure out though, why am I hitting them off the heel with my 7 iron when the shaft plane at impact is the same as at address?

if its turning more closed in your hand after imapct its because your hitting the ground first.

That may have happened a couple times, but I can assure you it's also happening on shots when I'm hitting the ball first. Heck, it happened on my driver a couple times!

Maybe my grips are just really nasty and I need to clean them, I'll do that.

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
