The driver in my sig is both forgiving and customizable, but it looks like a traditional driver. No alignment mark or anything, just a traditional black look. And the feel is 1000x better than the old nikes. Try it out. Stay away from the square one though, I hit it and was not a fan.

Try some of the older nike drivers, they're meant to be pretty good.

Try the cobra S2 aswell while your at it.

If you can find a place to demo any of the alpha line i would strongly recomend it....I play the Alpha C830.2 and it is the best I have ever hit low spin rate and good launch angle...worth a shot

Ok, so it looks like the Ping G series and the Cobra S2 are the favorites. I have been really busy lately and still haven't been able to go test anything out yet, but that will change in a week or so. For whatever reason (purely mental I know) I really have a lot of trouble hitting the square drivers with any consistency. I have also used a 'traditional' looking driver with the 'pear shape' and everything else just feels incredibly odd at set up.

For an earlier poster, my handicap is technically still 1.4, but is probably closer to a 6 or 7 right now. I have only played 4 rounds this year (78, 74, 79, 78) and I haven't updated my index yet this year. Driver is the club I always have the most trouble with and I know the range is the only true way to correct it, but it would nice to play something that is going to be less penalizing on a miss hit.

if you want forgiveness get a Cobra L5V, biggest hitting face out of any driver. You won't hit it far but it's pretty hard to mis-hit

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
