I want to change my driver, any thoughts?

I currently play the Titleist 907D2, but I don't find it very forgiving and this is where I give away most of my strokes on the course. I am of the belief that it is the swing, not the club, that often needs to be fixed. However, I want something just a little more forgiving and I don't feel like I am getting that with my current driver. I have yet to actually swing any other drivers and I have had this one for about 2 years. I wanted to come here first and ask for some opinions.

Anyone bought anything recently that they can't live without and have played ~15 or 20 rounds with? I know how that "honeymoon" period can be in those first few weeks.

Your best bet is to get fitted for a driver at your local pro shop, for the right combination of loft and shaft flex for your swing

Yea I was fitted for my current set now a couple of years ago, but that was when I was literally practicing and playing at least 6 days a week. And I'm like your typical golfer, I want something new lol.

Check out the Ping G10. Can't say much about the Ping G15 since I haven't tried but the G10 is long and forgiving.

I find the 907D2 to be incredibly forgiving, but I grew up using a 1980's Taylor Made Burner and 1990's Callaway Big Bertha, so maybe it's all relative.

Try the Cobra S2 it is the most forgiving of off centre hits of all the drivers I've tried this year ( I've pretty much tried them all...)

+1 for g10. brilliant. also try the 07 or 08 Burner. and its surprising for me to c that a 1.4 handicap golfer would have consistent trouble with a 907 D2. i played them, fared pretty well.

G-15 is said to be very forgiving and long. From the reviews I've read even more so than the G-10. Try a bunch of them.

I am currently playing w/ a Cleveland Launcher and feel that it is very forgiving. A guy I play with is messing around with the Wilson Staff smooth and the Wilson Staff spine, both were fun to hit. I also would recomend Cobra. I have hit some of their drivers and really liked them.

The forgiving drivers are usually the ones that are a little heavier such as the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo, Ping G15, or the Callaway FT-I series. Usually these clubs come in odd shapes, and may be off-putting for the average golfer at address. Out of these examples though, the Ping G15 is probably your best bet for distance and forgiveness.

Other clubs you might want to try out that give forgiveness and a good amount of distance (with the traditional shaped-head), include the new Cobra ZL (Zero Limits) driver (My personal favorite), The Ping G5 (Yes, G5. It's not a typo), TaylorMade R7 Superquad (Very forgiving), Ping G10 (The whole Ping G series is fantastic), and the Callaway FT-9.

If you're a Titleist guy, then I suggest the 909D2, which is perfect for your handicap level, while still providing enough forgiveness up to a 15 handicap (Source: http://www.golf.com/golf/gallery/art...742-17,00.html ).

I changed from a 905T to a G15 this season. It has made a huge difference in my FIRs.
The sweet spot on the 905T felt like it was the size of a gnat's @ss. The G15 is very forgiving when hit off-center.

you definitely gotta go get fitted and try a bunch of clubs. i'm hitting the new cobra s2 this year and it's by far the best club i have ever hit. it took me weeks to find this driver. i would go to golf galaxy on lunch breaks every other day or so and keep hitting drivers until i narrowed it down to 3, then 2 then 1.

take your time and make sure it's right for you. by finding my right driver, i went from averaging 250 off the tee and rarely hitting the fairway to 270 off the tee and rarely missing the fairway. when i hit the ball on the screws i'm hitting 285 and i caught one at 300 two weeks ago.

find what's best for you and you'll be the happiest golfer in the world. try the new cobra s2 .. it worked for me. it's the longest club in the bag which makes it the hardest to hit .. and i'm most confident with it.

I went through a few drivers last year looking for something that worked. I had a Callaway FTi - it went straight but went nowhere on any kind of mishit. Tried TaylorMade but tended to hit everything low and left (I hate the standard closed club faces...). I picked up a Callaway FT-iq Tour from their preowned site and it is FANTASTIC! Very straight and mishits go a mile. I'm glad I grabbed the tour model (more open face and a little better shaft IMO) - no more fighting the low left misses. They're fairly cheap too - $150 or so, sometimes closer to $100 when the preowned site has a sale.

I like my curret DComp & shaft fairly well.

Over the last two years though I really went nuts over the G10. Best head I've ever used...superb distance and accuracy. You can order them made to your specs from Discount Dans Golf for $209...!

I was dumb for selling mine to experiment with other shafts/lofts/heads.

I played with Nike SQ Sumo (non-square) /w 13 degree of loft. It's the most consistent driver I ever used. It's been in my bag since 2008.

I currently use the Nike SQ square 5900, man that is one seriously straight piece of kit. I am going to a Taylormade fitting session at my golf course today, going to be trying out the new models there (Burner Superfast/ R9 Supertri) just to see what the newest drivers are like. Will let you know how they feel if ya like. Also like above poster can recommend Cobra especially the new S2.

IMO after checking out the new TM's today I will DEFFO be keeping the Nike SQ in the bag. The Burner was good for the price & I didnt like the Supertri at all, The Cobra S2 I mentioned was better than both tho...

Coming from a 905, you may not like the look of many drivers on the market. The new R9 still looks a bit too triangular for my liking.

TM is coming out with the R9 Superdeep, which should be a traditional tour-style pear shaped driver with a deep face and lower launch conditions.

As of now, I love the balance of forgiveness and accuracy of my R7 425 TP. Best looking and feeling club I've hit in the last several years.
