Hey everyone, figured I'd chime in on the results of the Callaway FT-IZ driver I purchased.

Specs: Callaway FT-IZ, Stiff Flex, Aldila Voodoo, 10 degree driver.

I only have positive things to say about this driver. I for some awkward reason usually strike my irons well as as well as my woods, but not my driver. So I gave up on the driver and usually drove with my 13degree wood. I then tried out the FT-IZ locally and it's the only driver that felt good to me at address. I went on a hunch and shelled out the bills for it.

From a visual standpoint, the driver is nice to look at. The driver has a more narrow face vertically compared to others, such as Taylormade, which is better for me since I don't like blockly looking drivers heads. The head has a triangular shape and it looks like it goes from big to small when looking at it from the front to back. The driver appears to have a slightly closed face at address.

From a performance standpoint, the driver is smooth and every shot for the most part feels like it's hit in the sweet spot. When you do miss the sweet spot, shots still travel a pretty good distance. A majority of the shots have the same trajectory as stated by Callaway, so where ever you aim, the ball will most likely end up in that spot. If you have an issue with slices or too strong of fades, don't worry, mishits have good distance and don't leave the course like I'm sure some of you experience. I did notice that it is a little hard to hit a draw with this club. It appears to hit more straighter shots or weak fades....some what of an anti-slice aspect. You do not have to muscle this club, just a nice slow smooth swing will do the job. Last to add, the driver has a distinct sounds when struck. Not annoying or too loud, but, people will know you got the driver out.

That's about it, me personally I rate this a 10/10. Now that is from my standpoint of what I have tried in the past. This club is definitely a must for those of you who are not the best with the driver or for those who don't push to draw/fade the ball and just want a straight shot.

Feel free to add any input or ask any questions.

Take care!
Bobby

I just picked one up with 11* Head and Project X 5.0 graphite shaft. It did a Linda Rondstat on my Cobra S2 & Powerbilt drivers......."blue bayou" I like it!

    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
