Part of that statement is false. My fitter personally knows the maker of Project X and KBS. They're close friends. He said he made KBS so it'd have a smoother, softer feel. Closer to a DG. It had nothing to do with the PX Being 'hard to hit'. To me, that doesn't even make sense. How can a shaft be hard to hit?

Of course different shafts are designed to be played with by different levels of golfer. You've just answered your own question, the KBS are smoother and softer to hit compared to the PX which you have to be striking the ball pretty well to get the most out of them ie workability and feel as well as being able to controll the trajectory. Have a look the next time you're out on the course I would bet most of the players with PX are hitting the ball a lot lower that you would expect them to.

Good point. I haven't found anything about Project X being hard to hit or control. They work just fine for me.

Well, I have always hit the ball low to mid and I feel that the KBS and DGs are just too light/soft! I hit my irons like lasers normally and would not play anything other the PX's. I like playing 6.0's in my irons and 6.5 in my wedges... I attack the ball more with my wedges and prefer the stiffer shafts...

Yes, but PX do not have the same flex as standard Rifle - PX 5.5 is stiffer than Rifle 5.5.

Maybe....

Found the following which used to be on the Titleist site (apparently!):
What are the differences in performance characteristics between the Project X and Dynamic Gold shafts? Project X will launch slightly higher (0.5°) and with slightly less spin (200 rpm) than Dynamic Gold due to its slightly softer tip section and firmer mid section. The firmer mid section of Project X will give the player a slightly stiffer feel compared to Dynamic Gold. Both shafts are designed for the better player or stronger swinger seeking shot control with their irons and a lower, penetrating ball flight. Players with quicker tempos may prefer the heavier weight of Dynamic Gold. ...if a player is currently playing Dynamic Gold S300 and wanted to try Project X, we would suggest that he start with the 5.5 as it would be the closest comparison to S300 (and vice versa). ..................Project X 5.5.......... Dynamic Gold S300 Weight........... 118g........................... 130g Torque............ 1.7°............................ 1.7° Flex Point..... mid/high...................... high Below are the Rifle frequencies for various shafts: DG S300 = 5.8 FCM Rifle 6.0 = 6.0 FCM PX 5.5 = 6.0 FCM PX 6.0 = 6.5 FCM DG X100 = 6.8 FCM

I've hit the PX5.5s, Rifle 6.0 and Flighted Rifle 6.0 in the same heads before and I much prefer either the Rifle or Flighted Rifle over PX but I'm not a quick tempo, fast-transition swinger. Probably down to mid-section stiffness I think. I guess it's each to their own.

    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 40 yrs My current handicap index or average score is: 4.0 factor My typical ball flight is: Straight however sometimes slight draw. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn. • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
