I've been thinking about buying new irons for a few months. I've yet to hit a new set on the course yet (demo day at the local track isn't until May 22) and I've been playing my old Tommy Armour irons. I've never had my Tommy Armour's fitted, and the grips are worn out. I priced the fitting+adjustment+new grips out, and it looks like it would cost around $125, give or take a few bucks with tax. Given that the price of all those adjustments would be around a quarter to a third of the cost of new irons (buying them off e-Bay), should I adjust the irons or just wait until after May 22 and get a new set? I guess the question becomes, how much difference is an adjustment in lie angle/new grips going to make, and is that difference going to be less than or equal to the strokes taken off by new clubs?
