I am very new to golf and I noticed a couple of local courses here are advertising "Demo Day" what exactly are these? are they worth going to? do they come along pretty often?

The only reason why i'm asking is because they are holding these events on the weekend and i'm kind of sheepish to go on a weekend because I know it will be busy and I really do not want to play on a day when there are a lot of people on the course.

Thanks!

If you are in the market for new clubs they are a great event that allows you to hit (demo) some of the new clubs from select manufactures. They are certainly worth going to if you would like new clubs. It depends on where you live and how many courses are around. Most courses will have one toward the beginning of the season.

The people demoing will be on the range, so it should not make playing a round much different than usual unless a lot of people are buying and then playing right away lol.

Don't be shy about it, you will be on the range most likely. Demo days give you a chance to hit different clubs outside instead of in a simulator. Don't worry how you might hit the ball or things like that. You will find out quickly, that there are people out there that are way worse than you think you are. LOL Just go out and enjoy yourself.

I love Demo Days and I try to attend everyone I can. Around Raleigh they have raffles, free sleeves of balls, hats, etc. So far this year I've gone to three events and I scored a $25 Golf Galaxy gift card, a free short fitting from the Ping rep, 3 sleeves of Nike balls and a Ping hat. Hopefully I'll also win a set of G15 irons! Plus you get a chance to have interesting conversations with factory reps and other people as well. I also use the time to have the hosting shop regrip clubs and shop for lots of golf stuff that I probably don't need. It's certainly not the worst way to kill some time on a Saturday morning.
