After shooting my best round ever today, an 85, I was extremely pleased with the performance of my driver now that is has been cut down to 44.75". The only thing that I am not too pleased with is the continued boring flight, I would prefer a higher flight. So I took the plunge and bought a 75g, 1810 Axivcore Blue for the R9 and a new sleeve.

Thoughts or experiences with the Axivcore Blue? Will it give me the higher launch that I am looking for?

The Blue is definitely supposed to give you a higher flight, but depending on your swing and swing speed, it may give you too high of a flight to the point where it's spinning too much and ballooning.

I put the AxivCore Red in my 909D3 and I couldn't be happier with it but the red it supposed to be a low launching, low trajectory shaft; I still hit it pretty high though.

I was on the launch monitor last week with the stock 60G, ReAx Aldila shaft in my R9 and was between 99-105, have got it up to 108 a few times at various times on a monitor. Ball speed on the one shot I looked (103ss) was 158mph.

With the Aldila shaft I get a boring shot with higher spin (get little or no roll out). Have heard the Axivcore Tour Black gives the higher launch with a lower spin....

I had the Tour Black in my 909 before I took it out and put the Tour Red in. With the Tour Black, I got a REALLLLLLLLY high ball flight. It wasn't ballooning, but it was launching extremely high and just staying up there. If I'm not mistaken, the blue is supposed to give you a little higher ball flight than the Black; I'm also thinking the blue is UST's low end AxivCore shaft which are typically made for slower swingers. Assuming your swing speed was guaged accurately, I think you'll swing way to fast for the blue. My swing speed is right at 107ish consistently and although I never tried the blue, I know it wouldn't have been right simply because the Black wasn't. Of course, all this is speculation as everyone swings the club differently. The blue may in fact be perfect for you. May call around and see if any place will give you a guarantee that if you don't like the shaft they'll let you replace it with a different one and you just payt he difference. That's what I did here. I ordered the Black and didn't like it so he ordered the Red for me and just swaped them out (no extra charge.)

Shaft came in today and I took it to GG before leaving on a work trip. Asked that they tip it a 1/2" and cut the butt down to play at 44.5". Hopefully with the added weight (79g) and tipping it will keep it from ballooning. The current ball flight with the stock Aldila is boring however it can be high on a push draw.

If this balloons I'll pick up the tour black although I might do it with the Superfast Burner head.

The Red is actually mid/high launch mid/low spin.

You are thinking about the Axiv Green. It is low launch and low spin.

The red is technically a "penetrating" launch according to their site while the actual spec sheet says med-high launch. However, the Red is the lowest launching AxivCore shaft currently available to the public. The green is the lowest launching but is still a tour prototype I believe so I don't count it

The Tour Green is no longer a tour prototype. I know because mine just came in today

What made you guys look at the AxivCore line compared to the Pro V2 line ? Is there a noticable difference in feel ? Are they less "boardy" ?

After trying to find a higher launching shaft you guys have me worried it's going to ballon! I still hit the driver with my hands in front of the ball (descending) rather than the upswing. Not sure but that might be why I get a higher ball speed than my swing sweed would dictate. It is also why, I assume my ball does not launch super high.

    • Day 22 - 2026-01-11 More mirror work. Back outdoors tomorrow.
    • Day 11, 1/11/26.  Today was putting, along about 6' of carpet, with coins on the ground to keep me cognizant of what I'm doing.  I think this is the at-home drill from LSW. (Ugh, missed two of the last four days -- 1/10 and 1/8)
    • Day 9: 2026.01.11 Hit some balls at the range, concentrating on weight distribution at address, got some on film.
    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
