I do agree with what your saying but it seems that if you rotate the back side, the front hip will move forward and up through the shot which you would call "slide".

Just wanted to clarify - it IS a slide. The hips slide AND rotate. The center of gravity (your tailbone, your belt buckle) of the hips moves quite a bit forward, yes. Hogan (and others) get the left hip outside of the left foot, which they aren't at setup of course.

I think it's easier to think of it as a "C" shape. You want the hips to slide forward, while the feet and head stay in one spot.

It's like a taught string (like a bowstring) that's been pulled at the center. When you release the tension, it doesn't return immediately to straight, but it bends the other direction, then goes back and fourth again until the energy is used up. The same thing happens in the golf swing, we load up (turn back), then flex forward (slide the hips) releasing that energy. This position shows that fairly clearly.

thats what i'd like to do. =D

what i find is if i dont hold my hips from "sliding" i push all my shots . whreas if i turn my left fooot inwards, restrict my body movement, i hit straighter shots. i treid the splaying out with my left foot before, didnt really care for it, felt a bit , i dont kno w funny. =D

The reason you pushed it is your upper body came out in front, and you blocked it. That's not uncommon, I did it a lot as well. I had to learn to keep my head behind the ball, but my hands in front of it.

so what re saying is that my lower body is okay bt my upper body is going in front, before the arms.?

need to work on that sync then.
