I don't know about this. Seems like a good way to mistakenly fling your phone 30 feet over the fence. And then there's the looking-like-a-complete-tool factor.

I think it's a good idea, I wouldn't do it on my own though. You'd look pretty stupid standing in the middle of the street swinging your iphone.....

My wife downloaded a light saber app so my son could sling her phone around and make noises just like Star Wars. My fear was he would sling the phone across the room and break it. This sounds very similar.
