38(+2) of course I choked on the back (48) for a whopping 86

We won't talk about the back side to much except to say that I gagged with (usually) my best club the putter with 20 putts. I haven't had 20 putts over nine holes for a VERY long time. Anyway, I was hitting it off the tee (9/14 FW) and irons (8 GIR) well. The practice on the range is starting to show up on the course and the index is S-L-O-W-L-Y coming down.

This is for all the other hackers out there. Keep the faith, practice hard and it will start to pay off.

Great Job!! Feels good doesn't it! I remember the first time I shot a 70, it was in a tournament and I was riding high thinking I could coast to the win. The next day I shot an 86! Ouch! Lost by 2.

Nice. I had a similar experience three weeks ago. Shot a personal best 43 on the front 9 of my home course (70.9 / 135 from the tips), and then proceeded to mail it in on the back 9 for a 53 (higher than average). Back 9 is tougher, but I usually play it better than the front for some reason - I think it's because I'm warmed up and more focused. Back 9 troubles root caused to piss poor course management. Need to fix that - I want to break 40 for nine as well.

Great job! I'm still fighting for it, my lowest 9 hole score was a 41 and hopefully that will fall soon.

Thanks all. I'm not to worried about my back nine score as my putting is my strength and I usally average 15-16 putts per 9. I'll chalk it up as a bad nine with theputter which will happen. If I keep hitting the ball like this I'm gonna be a low double digit index before the end of the summer. Its a great feeling.

Congrats, Dad. First time I broke 40 I went all out with a 35. Paired with a front-nine 43, it was also my first time breaking 80. Remember it like it was... yesteryear.

Keep up the good work, and let us know when the blessed sub-80 round inevitably occurs.

Congrats, that's a great milestone... next time it happens don't think about what you could shoot, just concentrate on each shot and have fun.

Cheers, Allan
