ive heard that s lot of times ecpecially with the first few lessons that for the first few weeks you just play terrible.

my question is if that is to happen will your swing later improve or after a couple lessons try to find someone different?

My first one was historic. It was from an old Scottish guy - he was born near St. Andrew's - and he had just celebrated his 80th birthday. This was about 1974 near Chicago, so you guys do the math.

He told me, "Take 'er baaack slooooow, end lett 'er go!" I later learned that he still taught the old drag and cock method.

My next pro told me the slow backswing was OK, but to forget the rest.

Golf lessons involve either building, or changing, a swing. Learning takes time and repetition to set in. Before the lesson , it's important to set aside time the first couple of days afterward to practice a little, even just a half hour. If you take lessons and don't reinforce the new skills, you're wasting your time and money.

Also, try to find a pro that gives you a video summary of the lesson. You can load it to your Ipod, and play it back at the range before you practice.

Focus, connect and follow through!
