I spend endless time trying to read and study what irons are out there that I can feel confident enough about even to demo when I consider "hanging up" my Hogan Apex (2-E, Apex 4shafts... 17 years old).  I have become a 2.1 because of these irons, but that 2-4 long iron has to be hit exactly right or you know what happens.  Im a traditionalist and would hate to give up this feel the clubs deliver... not to mention the pokes I get when I play at a guests club and the bag room snickers, saying... "look at these clubs... no body can play those..." then I come in with a 71 a few hours later!!

I have then lie/loft adjusted every spring now becasue of the age/stress factor in the metal... and I dont know how many more times they can be bent... and GolfWorks says only one re-chroming (last year)... So... the Mizuno MP-63 (new), Titliest AP1's?  Can any body make a suggestion please

Today is my son's 37th birthday. I found a set of Red Lines at a used sports equipment store three months ago for only $40, so I bought them for him because he says he wants to try out some blades. Why not go with the best?

Actually, it's a mongrel set. The 2 and 6 are from the same set, but from a different set (serial numbers) than the rest of the clubs, and the E is a PC, not a Red Line. We can fix that last one, though. I guess that's why it was $40.

I have owned 6 sets of Hogan irons, going back to 1976. I still have four sets. I played some of my best golf with '76 Directors, and also enjoyed some good rounds with '79 Apex II's. Tried old Edge irons and didn't like them at all. I have '78 Medallions that I still like to hit. There are few feelings in life sweeter than hitting a Hogan blade in the center of the face! I have some Edge GCDs that I'd like to get rid of. But my prize golf club possession is a set of '83 (Apex) "Decade" irons. They are a terrific looking blade, in excellent shape. But the shafts (Apex 4) are just too stiff for me at age 65 after numerous spinal surgeries. I would like to sell these. They would be great clubs for someone who likes a great-looking classic blade!
