Needing some help here.. I came across the Tour Burners at my local sporting goods store for 399 and the R7's are still rotating stores in the chain, they have about 200 left so I can get my hands on a set in a bout a month; no problem.

I hit the tours and the just felt kinda awkward on any miss. Like the hits that were square in the middle felt good but sometimes lacked smoothness.

Need some assistance here guys.. Thanks

399 for a burner? My recommendation is to never go back to that store.

They are 150$ at golfsmith. I picked on up on ebay last night brand new for 130.

Not that the OP's post was clear, but I think he was talking about irons, and I think you're talking about drivers.

If the OP is talking about irons, you can't really go wrong with R7s, but you should try to demo them before buying them. And if the Tour Burners didn't feel right to you, then you probably shouldn't buy them, though with a bit more time with them, you might overcome the awkwardness you felt. I've read they're good irons.

I agree. 399 for the tour burner is A LOT. Dont get me wrong its a great club but at the pro shop i work at we have it on sale for 139.99. Definitely consider looking at Dick's or another golf store or something because 399 to too high.

Now is it the r7 425?

I tried many irons before selecting, and the Tour Burners were my favorite, until trying the R7's. I felt that I actually hit the longer irons better with the R7's. The price difference didn't hurt either! :D

A friend got a set of Tour Burner irons late last season and I hit a couple at the range with them Monday. They felt excellent, imo. Much lighter and thinner profile than my Nike super game improvement irons.

Thanks for the replys..

I went to an Edwin Watts and a salesman helped me out a little although he said I need a stiff shaft since I swing fast. How much of a difference will I see in swinging a club with a regular or a stiff shaft?

this is true. but if you tend to hit a slice or a hook and stiff shaft will help fix that. the stiff shaft will prevent the wipping action of the club face. you might wanna go back and grab a 6 iron of both the burners and the r7's and have them in both stiff and reg. swing normally with the stiff shaft and see how you do. And then pick up the regular shafted clubs and take a normal swing but slow it down just a bit and see how you do. You might find that if you swing just a little bit slower you will hit the ball straighter, have a nicer feel, and have a better control over what the ball does. good luck

Ok. So I hit the Tour Burners again today in a regular shaft and they felt really good almost equal to the R7's. I felt better swinging them again and it must have been that I needed to adjust to them because the first time wasn't good at all. I think I'm sold on them!

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
