I think it's funny how few people study history well enough to understand when they repeat it. I came across an interesting couple of quotes, and was a little shocked how modern they sounded. The first one could well be about the healthcare debate. The second could well be about putting terrorists on trial. The first is unchanged, but the second has been reworded to disguise its origins. Without looking them up, try and guess what time and issue these quotes were made about.

1:
With this assassin's knife and a blackjack in the hand of the Federal force-cult, the left-wing liberals will try to force us back into bondage. Bondage to a tyranny more brutal than that imposed by the British monarchy which claimed power to rule over the lives of our forefathers under sanction of the Divine Right of kings. ... Now, let us examine the manner in which the Court has continuously chipped away at the concept of private property. It is contended by the left-wing liberals that private property is merely a legal fiction. That one has no inherent right to own and possess property. The courts have restricted and limited the right of acquisition of property in life and have decreed its disposition in death and have ruthlessly set aside the wills of the dead in order to attain social ends decreed by the court. The court has substituted its judgment for that of the testator based on social theory.

How the times have changed! There was a time we would have hung him in the public square. We know what this man has done, yet we let him live. We even give him a fair and public trial, and we act as if that's our duty to the law of the land! People these days are too soft on criminals.

Are politics allowed on here?

Ha, you should take a look back when American elections are on, there'll be almost nothing but politics on here.

the first is thomas jefferson, the second i'm going to guess is andrew johnson.

Not even close.

The first was George Wallace. He was the governor of the State of Alabama. The speech is in regards to giving blacks equal rights, and was delivered on July 4th, 1964. The second is famously known as, "O the times! O the manners!" This would later be repeated by millions of people across the face of the earth, in every generation. The idea is, that everyone thinks they grew up in a kinder, simpler time, when (insert comparisons here). But it's all just a sham, because we saw those days through younger eyes. This version was given by Cicero in 63 BC.

    • Day 313 - I played 18 today. First and last holes were ugly, but I actually played pretty well. Driver was great, irons were alright, and the short game was better than average.
    • Day 205 (23 Nov 24) - Worked with the alignment rod and 7i  in reference to ball position in relation to lead foot on full iron shots, noticed an increase in thinned shots last couple of rounds - better contact with the balls (hard foam) during the drill/swing rehearsals.
    • Have you gone to a fitting? A good fitting will not only give you a clubhead but a shaft, etc. that will suit you.
    • It's not like the Nike Vapor Pro are exactly a highly sought set of irons.
    • Last night I was putting my Nike Vapor Pro Irons back in my bag.  I had my sons i500’s in there the last couple months after we all went to Top Golf .  I picked up the Nike’s this past spring and they are like new.  I feel guilty using them… I have other irons that aren’t valuable that I could use instead.
