easy question, although hard to find answer.

Anyone know what the Rifle or Project X (flighted or non-flighted) equivalent is of the Dynamic Golf Plus S300 shaft?

Cheers, Allan

I've head the s300 is like a 5.7 in the PX.

good discussion from one of the best club builders around HERE

here is a copy and paste from the discussion

Aproximately:

DGS300 = 5.8FCM
DGX100 = 6.8FCM
PX5.5 = 6.0FCM
PX6.0 = 6.5FCM

I would have to say DGS400 more closer to PX5.5, but with +/-10gr differences, Playability will probably make the DGS400 feel a bit stiffer due to lost of swing speed.

In fair flex comparison, PX hits a little higher but with less spin compare to DG due to stiffer tip design, thus a lot of customers told me that PX feel harsher but fly longer ( higher flatter ball flight with slightly longer hang time than DG ), Most Pro still like DG due to higher spin for more agressive shot on attacking the pin.

Thanks, but " GOLD PLUS " is a completely different shaft than the DGS300, lighter and lower kick point.

thanks for the link, very technical read... anyone know what "soft" stepping of a shaft is?

...never mind.. I figured it out. Really want to switch to flighted PX in my irons, just need to get a pretty good ballpark before I do.

Cheers, Allan

I believe soft stepping is transitioning the irons shafts up a club (3 irons shaft in 4 iron, trimmed to length... 4 iron shaft in 5 iron, trimmed to length) and so forth. I am a 6.3 in PX shafts, but playing a 6.5 at the moment. My fitter recommended soft stepping a 6.5 to split the difference mid season if I was still uncertain on the 6.5's.

I believe this softens the flex slightly, jpalermo on the board is good to reference for shaft stuff.

Thanks... I'll probably have to see a professional fitter on a range where we can figure out by actual ball flight and feel but it looks like I might soft step the PX 6.0 but again really depends on the trajectory and the feel.

Flighted vs. non flighted makes a difference too.

Conventional wisdom is that the Gold Plus is most similar to the Dynamic Gold Lite. There is not really any PX shaft remotely close in specs.

(closest is the regular Rifle 4.5 with 307 cpm and 77 DSFI) but like you said working with a good club fitter you can likely find one that suits. Gold Plus Iron Shafts

Thanks, but "

if its any consolation, I play the PJX Flighted 6.0's and LOVE THEM

I was a DG S300 guy until playd these I also tried the Flighted 5.5's and they were still to weak for me I lost a club distance going to them, but my accuracy is waay better and I personally like the feel of them 100%

Not exactly willing to give up an entire club lenth... I'm already playing old fashioned lofts. I know the dispersion is pretty tight.

I might try them out on some Titliest MB irons... just pay for a fitting and see what we can come up with. Or buy a few MP-33 6 irons on ebay and put the different shafts in each one and try them... that's the most expensive and extensive way, but probably also the most accurate.

If you decide to go it on your own, I would suggest reading

The Modern Guide To Shaft Fitting . It's a free download and I think quite good if you can find the time to read it. If you prefer not having to read all that, Chapter 5 of the addendum contains a "cookbook" fitting method that you should find very helpful. Good Luck, Mike
