I played 9 holes today and I concluded that I need to look at a stiff shaft for my driver and my rescue 4i. Any aftermarket shafts that are better than others? Any input on this subject would be great.

Best is probably to go get fit for one, its damn near impossible to recommend one with out some other information that will be seen in a launch monitor etc...

picking a shaft is like picking new socks
so personal its impossible to tell you what's "best"
its a lot more than picking a flex - what exactly r u looking to achieve out of the shaft?

high spin, low spin, high traj., low traj. etc.......

as metioned above, find out what you want out of thw shaft, get fit and then buy one that fits your budget

Can I ask how you "concluded" that you need a stiff?

Go to a store with a launch monitor and try out some different shafts.

I recently trasitioned from graphite eagle eye irons to steel shafted irons which work very well. I also bought a taylormade 3 wood with a stiff shaft that has worked very well. I have a extremely fast swing which leaves me really no choice but to look at stiff shafts. I also tried my friends driver which has my exact driver head, but with a stiff shaft and that worked very well. That is how I "concluded" that I need a stiff shaft.

how fast is your "extremely fast swing"...? you should goto a launch monitor and get it checked out before you make the wrong conclusions.

but others are right. you definitely should get your swing checked out on a launch monitor to get a good measurement of what kind of stiff shaft you need. I recently went through this and was fitted for a specific shaft that was fit for my swing and what I wanted otu of my ball flight. Each manufacturer has a different measurement of stiffness so depending on your swing speed, ball flight, swing in general, they may fit you into something different than what anyone can recommend. I suggest you do that.

The last time I hit into the launch monitor earlier on in the season before I was looking at a stiff shaft I was recorded as swinging 109 mph

Gotcha. sounds about right. should put you the stiff shaft range. Now it depends on what you prefer personally. Do you like lower-mid trajectory or high trajectory ball flight? If you have any trouble getting the ball in the air, like many high h'cappers do, a higher trajectory ball flight will help do that. Depending on what you want, there are different kinds of stiff shafts with different kick points, etc that'll help get you the flight you're looking for.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
