It can be hard to make solid contact with a knockdown shot. I practice them fairly regularly. You have to just hold on for dear life to that club.

LOL. I know that feeling. I normally don't play a knockdown shot, but over the last year or so, my rhythm got so bad that I started flipping at impact causing all kinds of grief. So, my instructor and I have been using drills for the knockdown shot to help me re-establish maintaining the forward shaft angle for my irons at impact. Under normal conditions, I wouldn't have done it (hit knockdown shots) for 18 holes, but it was windy, so it gave me a good excuse to get extra practice doing it. My score probably suffered because of it, but I didn't care. For me, it was more important to make solid contact than it was to shoot a low(er) score. Besides, two of my buddies that I played with that day (11 & 12 handicap) both shot 97s. So, while I wasn't having the best of days, at least I knew there were two other guys suffering along with me.
