Went out for 9 with the wife today. I played like absolute garbage shooting 53 (with one par, one bogie, and doubles and triples everywhere else), she beat me on three holes shooting 61

We had a fantastic time. I know many, if not most, men prefer to have their golf game to themselves. For me, I love getting out there with her. I still prefer to play by myself as I can concentrate on my game more. But as she continues to progress, and fall in love with the game, it is really fun to watch. Plus, when she gets good enough the challenge will become to not let her beat me. She's a good putter, which is my biggest weakness!

That's great! Something I'm working on this year is letting go a little bit and enjoying the golfing experience more. I often times take myself and the game too seriously and forget to just swing the club and enjoy the experience of a beautiful course, great company, etc. of golf. Bravo you were able to do that! It's a good reminder for all of us that putting up a good score should not be the priority every time we go out.

It's always good when you still have a great time when shooting a bad score. And why not? Being on the course sure beats working or a host of other things that you could/should be doing. A lot of the people I play with just hate it when they shoot bad and it ends up completely ruining their day. Sometimes when you're not playing well you just have to let go of your expectations for a good score and just enjoy the disaster as it unfolds.
