I hate the huge heads that are on drivers. I know there was a Titleist model a while ago that had a pretty small looking head, anyone know which model it was? or if there are any other drivers like this?

Cleveland Launcher DST 10.5*

Ping G15 17*

Mizuno MP-53 4-PW with GS-95

Mizuno MPT-11 Black Nickel 52* and 58* with GS-95

Titeist D3 has a 440CC or 420 head, Cleveland Launcher has 420CC and the Nike VR "TOUR" Driver has 420CC head. There is also the Nike Dymo Prototype if you can get your hands on one..... It has a 380cc head.
As for older drivers, the Taylormade R7 425 TP has a 425cc head.

These are all the drivers I can think of with a smaller head.

some of the new drivers are slightly smaller, for example, the r9 is 420cc and the titleist you may be referring to is the 909 d3 at 440cc.

the old r7s befor hte 460 were all great heads and were in the 420 range.. the titelist 907D4 is 425, the 905 t/s are both smaller, and im sure there are a few others.

i completely agree however, heads are just massive these days, i have been taking a 7.5 titty 975J to the range, and its becoming a favorite real quick...

the 905 Series Drivers are 400 cc (the T and S were anyways)
i just put the 905T back in the bag today - such a sweet stick for sure

i had a J33R and although its ls long, its too forgiving and cant be worked at all
i like the smaller head too, as i had some issues clearing my hands on time w the bigger head
now if i miss right, its not as drastic and usually still in play

it seems a lot of peeps and pros are seaking smaller headed drivers too

Check this listing for one of those rare 380cc Dymo prototypes. Is this guy smoking something funny with this price listing?

I currently play a Nickent Evolver 4Dx; its head is a bit less than 460cc, and more importantly, it looks pretty "classic" on setup at least to me. My old favorite was my Titleist 983k....not sure which Titleist model you were thinking of. Great driver, i could kill it when hit well, although it wasn't the most forgiving, even though it was the "more forgiving" of the 983 series (i.e. that's why everyone made driver heads bigger).

Driver: Cleveland Classic 270, 10.5*
Fairway Woods: Adams Speedline LP (3 & 5)
Hybrids: Wilson Staff Fybrids 21*, 24*, UST V2 stiff
Irons: Callaway X-20 Tour, 5-PW, Rifle Project-X (flighted) 6.0
Wedges: Cleveland CG15 DSG 52* & 58* +/- 56* Niblick

Putter: Yes! Amy

I'm still playing a 425cc driver. I love it, too.

When looking down over a larger 460cc head, there are very few that look as confidence inspiring as my r7. Surely I'll hit the sweetspot, but I don't get the feeling I can swing them quite the same. This is especially true for the high MOI drivers.

In the Bag: TaylorMade R11 TP - TaylorMade R7 TP TS - Cleveland Halo - TM TP 2009 3-PW - Vokey SM 52 - Vokey SM 60 - Rife Barbados CS - ProV1x

I play a 525 cc Tour Strike. I bought it at the kmart. It sounds like an empty tin of porch meat but it hits pure. If I scream "booom" I get an extra 15 yards.

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
