Distance Markers

I have always wondered.. where are distance markers to? Most of the places I play at don't show front-center-back, just the one.

Is it from the from of the tee box to the center of green?
Is it from the marker post itself to the center or front?

I need help

99% of the time a fairway marker will be measured to the center of the green, unless otherwise noted somewhere. The tee boxes can vary. Some are measured from the back of the box. Others I have seen will have a marker somwhere where the distance was marked from. If there is confusion, asking in the pro shop before a round could help.

Good question... I always assumed all of them were measured to the center of the green. Soon, it won't matter for me. We just switched phone services, and I'll have a new Droid on Tuesday. Step two will be finding and installing a decent Golf GPS package.

That would be SkyDroid, which can be downloaded for $1.99. Good luck with the new Droid. I bailed on my iPhone contract with AT&T; a few weeks ago and got an Evo 4G with Sprint. Much happier with the phone and the service.

On each tee box it should be marked on the ground, usually it is from that point to the middle of the green, now on the east coast some places mark it for the front of the green, so your best bet is to ask the starter or use a GPS

I use greenfinder gps, it's just off the teeboxes I don't bring it with me, and the cart will normally be a good deal closer or farther
