I'm Tom O'Reilly and I've spent the better part of my adult life one step ahead of total embarassment on the golf course. I really love the game and I like to play whenever I can. But, my game is brutal.

I've been away from golf at different times and for various stretches during my life. As kids were coming fast and furious, I took up tennis just because I could play in an hour or so and get back to the wife and kids before they ever really missed me. But, tennis really never provided the fellowship and comraderie that I really love about golf.

So, besides business golf and the annual family outing, I haven't played as much as I would have liked for the past several years. This year I've committed to playing regularly (at least once a week) with my son, Mick. He's 12 years old now and is eager to play. I've watched my brother and friends really form a strong bond with their sons through the game of golf and I'm anxious to do the same with Mick.

Tom,

I am from Chicagoland area as well (Westchester) and let me be the first to welcome you to The Sand trap. Where abouts do you play? How long do you anticipate before you son beats you on the course? I play with my father on a regular basis, and enjoy the experience alot. He is without a doubt my favorite playing partner. I have alot of friends that play the game as well, and while I am competitive with them, playing with my father and uncle is an experience I always cherish.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Thanks, we played Cog Hill #1 last week and we're hoping to get 18 in today (weather permitting) at Village Greens in Woodridge. We try to move around and experience all the clubs that we can.

I think my son will be beating me in a couple of years. He really loves to play. He was out hitting into a net in the backyard last night.

Best,

Tom
