The Grand slam (Mark Frost)

Just finished reading The Grand Slam by Mark Frost. I've read all of his books and think he's probably the formost author on golf related subjects to date. Grand Slam is a little long but very interesting if you are one who likes to put a books subject in a time period with what else is going on in the world. A very good history lesson and being a history person myself, all events described are accurate. Recommended for those on vacation with some time to read unless you are a speed reader like my daughter who read it in an afternoon. Took me a week.

Yeah I've read all of his golf books too, they're great. It's been a few years since his last golf book. He seemed to be progressing through the 1900's retelling the history of golf, but he hasn't gotten to Palmer and Jack yet, the next logical step. Since his last golf book he has written a book about the 1975 World Series and a book about WWII.

As for him being the foremost author on golf, I would agree with that. His only real competition is John Feinstein, but Frost's writing is much more sophisticated, he's just a better writer.

The only dis-agreement with you reply is the timeline. I believe Grand Slam was his last book and it just came out last November. Before that it was "The Match" which was my favorite. Glad you liked them though.

The Match actually came out after The Grand Slam. My paperback copy of the Grand Slam was published in 2004, and my hard cover copy of The Match was published in 2007.

I've read all of his golf books and recommend them all. I've lent them out a lot and everybody had enjoyed them.

I was under the impression that something was to come out last November which was stated somewhere at the end of the match. I'll check it out.

Well, I've checked it out and your chronology is correct and I can't find a thing that came out last November. This is what happens when we don't do our homework.

I haven't heard about anything new from him, though it would be great if he did come out with something on Jack and Arnie; maybe the US Open at Cherry Hills would be a good topic.
