Sneaking onto your local private course is sorta lame. Who cares? But if you had the chance to sneak on Pine Valley or Augusta or someplace like that... then the risk is warranted. Plus you would gain man points for the display of 100% grade A steel balls.

not gonna lie iv gotten into plenty of places. if you walk around like you know what your doing. dont ask questions and dont look confused and youl be fine. just make sure you dress properly, most people at private courses dress in all name brand clothes so if you dress in name brand clothes you will be mistaken for a member usually.
i work at a course and i dress like i do for tournaments some days and some members mistake me for a player occasionally.
edit: i learned from one of my good friends that if you act like you belong and have a confident personality you can usually get into any course without "sneaking" on

Augusta......

What'd happen if you were caught? How would you manage to sneak onto augusta? Would anybody be playing?

Exactly. My aunt has a house about 1 minute from Shinnecock Hills and I have thought about sneaking on many times. I am more at the stage where I drive around the course and look at the holes from different streets by the course. I am more like a stalker at this stage. It sure looks lovely though.

Augusta......

I dont know. That would be the trick. If you could somehow manage to sneak on, play 18 holes, and then escape with none the wiser...then you would be a god among men. At augusta it would probably require a tag-team effort, as im sure that you are required to use a caddy. So you would have to employ a friend to assist in the caper. Im not sure if youre allowed carts, there

So is the inevitability of people trying to justify bad behavior.

I see what you mean "Spare me all the "unethical behavior" or "thats stealing" talk because I could really care less."

I think you own your own cart if you play in augusta.

You can't even pay off the starter, they're either rich or a pedantic old guy

This would be after you've turned away by several security guards before you even reached the first tee. It's pretty much impossible to sneak on pine valley I had the honor of playing there and it's a private community with it's own police. So first you would have to manage to sneak into the community not get caught by the police and then hope you can get to the first tee. Pine Valley has a cool par 3 course so you might have some luck there but I'd doubt it.

Then try sneak through the forest to another teebox?

would be pretty tough with your clubs on your back though

Just reading that when Seve was young he used to sneak onto his local course before dusk and was that true of Tiger as well?

doubt it for tiger.

He was given clubs when he was 2, I'd say he played on the course regularly.

When I played Pebble Beach I saw a couple of teenage idiots (possibly the OP?) hop a fence with their clubs and start playing.

They were a couple of holes behind us, didn't get in our way and I never saw what happened to them.

Had they been in front of us, and interfered with a round that we had paid a lot of money for, I think i would shoved my 6 iron up [ moralizing removed from this space so as not to offend the OP ].

I beg to differ. You seem as if you

Jesus Christ, criminal? Really? I'm not talking about stealing the neighbors car or breaking and entering. Have you done anything in your life you weren't "supposed" to do? You guys completely missed the point of the thread I guess. Thanks for correcting my grammatical error too. You guys can find a way to take the fun out of anything I'll bet.

For the record, I was raised in a great home with plenty of rules. Rules were also meant to be broken or else they wouldn't be called rules. Call me a criminal if you want for stepping over a fence to see a top 10 course in the world that I will otherwise never have the chance to see in my lifetime, but you won't find me feeling bad about it anytime soon. Enjoy playing the muni the rest of your life. After I sneak on San Francisco Golf Club I'll be sure to make a complete write-up of it just for you so you can see what you're missing.

    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.
