I have been reading about people getting fit for clubs. I know it helps, but how much so?

I looked up how to take the measurements and had a friend help and plugged them into a fitting system on the internet. How accurate would you figure these to be.

They say I would need clubs 1/4 inch long and 1 degree upright. How much is this going to affect me if I bought and played stock clubs?

I searched first, I know fitting gets talked about a lot but I couldn't find the exact answer I'm looking for.

Thanks

Well, if your clubs are too short for you, you're more inclined to hit them thin (or to develop bad habits to hit them solid). I've grown a bit since my last fitting, and I suspect that, if I were to be fitted today, I'd end up with standard length instead of under.

The lie adjustment is huge. I forget whether being too flat or too upright causes slices or hooks, but with an improper lie angle, you're effectively playing a sidehill lie off a flat area.
