over the last two years i have been able to whittle my handicap down from a 14 to a 6. over this time i have been playing the titleist 962 irons i bought as a high schooler but feel like i want to move away from a cast club to a forged set. although i have tried blades they are just too much for me right now, i have hit several, but theink the cavity back foged design is the way to go. now i'm looking at three options and i'd like to hear your opinion of them. the three sets i'm looking at are the taylormade 300 series forged irons, the titleist 760 cavity back, and the bridgestone j33 cavity backs. has anyone hit these clubs? and if so did you like them? can you recommend any other easy hitting forged irons? thanks for the posts

Well I haven't played the irons you're looking into.

But I also played 962's for about eight years (got 'em in high school).

I've tried a few different sets this season- Mizuno MP-30's, Hogan FTX, Hogan Apex Plus, Titleist 704.CB and Titleist 670.MB.

The 704's are similar to the 962's but I like the 670's the best. Have you tried or thought about the 775's?

I used to play Mizuno MX23s before my hands and elbows got bad. They were a very forgiving for a forged club. Depending on the shaft you can really fine tune their performance. Not as workable as a blade. but way better than cast clubs. In fact I may go back or buy some of the new Mx 25s, if I can find a shaft I like. Mine were dynamic gold. You can pick dynamic gold lite rifle, flighted rifle, essar graphite, other choices I am sure.

I used Titleist 981's throughout high school than wanted to switch to a forged club as well. In my opnion you can't beat Mizuno for forged clubs.

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
