Adjusting shaft length of putters

If you cut 35" putter shaft to 33", what exactly happens to the weight? Will a normal golfer be able to tell the difference?

For every inch you trim off a golf club shaft, you drop about 4 swingweights.

Two inches off the shaft, and putter drops by eight swingweights. That's a lot of lead tape if it feels light. A couple of companies make lead buttons (about a quarter-inch deep) that weigh more than strips of tape.

Got a putter fitting last summer, and had an inch trimmed off the shaft. The fitter said that most off-the-shelf putters are too light. He recommended D6, but I only taped it to D4.

I should know this next point from hanging around golf shops so much, but I don't: Does anybody make putters with heel and toe screws that can be switched out to change swingweight?

Swingweight categories come in A through G. Within each category, the scale is 0 through 10. Most modern clubs fall into the C or D range: Most women's irons come in about C5, and most men's irons come in about D0 to D2, according to the site below:
