Should I match my 3 wood to my driver?

I like the 909's enough that I don't even have any plans to try out the 910's. I really like the lower trajectory that the F3 delivers (vs the F2). If you're a high ball hitter, an F3 w/a low launching shaft is an ideal fairway wood. Going with a 3 wood from the same series as your driver is a decent starting point, if it delivers what you're looking for in a fairway wood that is. The R9 fairway wood has a pretty shallow/long face and that doesn't work for me so, even if I gamed an R9 driver, I doubt that I'd give much serious consideration to a fairway wood from the same line. Worry more about what a given club delivers based on your needs and stick with that. In the end, it doesn't really matter what's stamped on the sole-plate if the stick works for you.

After having had both the F2 and F3 in the bag for a few months, I liked the F2 better bc. (even at the 13.5 model I am using) it is easier of the fairway ....... the last thing I would want is a low flight from the fairway, it gets up fast and really flies a longggggg way.

In the 910 series the F2 is marketed toward fairway use and the FD (F3) is marketed towards of the tee use ......... I feel that is what equals the 909 F2/F3.

When I first started playing and buying clubs I thought I needed to have my woods match, but as I developed as a player I realized it wasn't a necessity. It is more important to have clubs that work and feel good than clubs that look good. I now play the Ping G15 driver and I had originally bought the G15 3 wood, but I hated it! I wound up getting…. brace yourself…. The Nike SQ MachSpeed 3 wood, which is probably the most unlikely club to put in my bag based on its looks (square head, etc…) but it comes stock with the shaft that I like and I can hit the $&!# out of it! Oddly enough I play a Ping i15 5 wood. The i15 I was told was a "players" club and would not work for me. But I can rip this thing! Plus it also comes stock with the shaft that I like, so its in the bag, and been there for almost a year now.

Bottom line is: Be open minded, and put what works best in your bag, not what looks best…

In my opinion 3 woods are the hardest club to find one that will work for you. Unlike the driver your 3 wood needs to be hit out of verious lies. I just try to find one that works for me.
