One of the worst things to happen. You know you hit your ball long, you know you hit it in the bunker, when you get there the sand is like wet beach sand, and the ball is stuck on a semi collapses part of the bunker wall on the downslop with the lip blocking anyshot.

Lets just say i had to pull a british open maneuver, aim off to the side and take it as a loss of stroke.

Rule question based on this:

couldn't you have moved your ball out of the bunker.. dropped it, and took a 1 stroke penalty?

If u wanted to take and unplayable lie....but you cant take it out of the bunker.

really? I thought a bunker was considered a hazard, so you can take a one stroke relief, under 1 stroke penalty?
i've never done it.. b/c i can usually advance it further than 1 stroke.. but i'm just curious.

I may be wrong, but I will swing at anything in a bunker, any lie. There is a technique to get a ball out depending on the different lies. Im not successful at every attempt, but I can usually smack it out enough to lay a normal shot.

This is pretty much my approach. I just consider all the bad spots I get myself into good practice.

you can try to play a hooded 7 or 8 iron on those shots and just hope.

Yes - but unless he retees, he does have to keep it in the bunker. All else equal, it's the same result as hitting out sideways except he's still hitting out of the sand.
