#1 Goal met for 2010

Just got my new hcp revision, 12.7. Goal for this year was to get solidly into the 12s, I'm pretty happy to get it done at this point in the year. Started golfing last May and have been playing and practicing pretty steadily. I will say, I play mostly on one course and definitely don't score as well on new courses, but I did put an 82 up in a tournament awhile back so I'm getting better at playing new tracks. It's tough to play difference courses because the $$ tied up in my membership, but definitely want to start using our reciprocal agreements with some local courses to get out to tougher venues.

Next up is trying to break 80.

You've only been playing a little over a year? That is outstanding. May I ask how often you practice/play? Do you take lessons regularly? Congrats on achieving your goal.

I'd played before, but just around twice a year in scrambles for bachelor parties or odd round with my old man, so it wasn't the first time I'd picked up a club. First time out last year, I shot 119 playing rules of golf for the first time, that was an eye opener.

I practice usually once a week and typically play once a week, but definitely will play more often if I have the time, I've played three rounds in a weekend. Started trying to practice more then play this year and it seems to have helped.

I've had one swing evaluation, and two lessons. The swing evaluation was valuable, the lessons really weren't, just guys telling me to swing slower and work on tempo...they didn't touch any mechanics. I am looking to find a teacher to work with this winter to get more consistency. Thanks for the comments.
