Division II Eligibility

I just finished my fourth year of college. I wasn't cleared to play by the NCAA until my Spring semester of my freshman year. I know that you have ten semesters to play eight. Generally, DII athletes can compete in four seasons in one sport. However, what is considered a season in golf? Don't we have eight seasons? Anyways, I've been told my eligibility is up since I played in one lousy tournament the second semester of my freshman year. My problem is that there is a player at a rival school (that's their #1) that is playing this fall that is under the same circumstances as me; played second semester of freshman year only and just finished her fourth year. So we've both racked up 7 semesters of golf...whose athletic department is wrong?

If you played 1 tournament and did not red-shirt, your athletic clock started ticking. The whole key is going to be the red-shirt. If the other player was red-shirted, then they're in the clear.

Technically they don't have to play in a tourney once their on the roster the clock starts. Now if you didn't play in any tourney's you could have red shirted but most D2 schools don't red shirt golfers. The other thing would be if the person from the other school played one tourney and got injured they could probably get another year of eligibility. I would ask the athletic department to explain if you have another year they would know better than anyone.
