First Time Under 90!!!!

Today, I was just going to go out and enjoy a nice afternoon of golf. I went to a course I had only played once before just because I knew of hand their twilight rate was very reasonable. Get to the course and at the club house and I'm going to tee off as a single. On the first hole, I get invited to join a threesome..."sure, why not?"

As we are teeing off, I notice they are placing from the blue tees when I normally play from the white....I say what the hell. The blue tees are only 6077 and it's rated at 68.8/113.

First tee shot was a thing of beauty. Ripped it right down the center of the fairway. Approach shot caught the backside of the green 25 ft from the hole. I 2 putt for par.

I'm so excited right now. I've shown myself that I can shoot a respectable score and I can't to get back out there again. I know with this game, I'll probably shoot a 105 next time around. Through everything today and the struggles that I did have, I noticed I did something today I had never done before...I didn't second guess myself. I played the game one shot at a time today. I didn't think about the next shot...just the one I was playing. If it didn't go where I wanted, no big deal...I'll make up for it.

Today, I had one thing.....Focus.

Nice, congrats dude. As a recent breaker of 90 all I can say is expect the ups and downs.

If you can 1 or 2 putt every green you hit I guarantee you can shoot in the high 80s often. Just keep working at it, the long swing will click eventually!

Congrats dude! I broke 80 two weeks ago and out of 6 rounds haven't shot a round under 85 since (with one round at 97!)... frustrating but seeing all the people on the forums with similar problems helps. Hope you can keep shooting at the bogey level for a while. Remember tempo... also, ball then divot. Pure iron shots lead to the need for a divot repair tool. Busting that sucker out means good scores.

Thanks for the encouragement. I kept a track of all of my putts and I did notice that I only had 34 putts. That was extremely well for me.

Congrats. I've still yet to break 90 legitimately although my handicap says differently. I have many low 40s 9 hole rounds that combined to distort my index. Still waiting on a sub-90 18 hole round.
