It’s that time of the year again :) God I love fantasy football lol Anyways, It’s early in the year and my team has already taken a hit! One of my best receivers, Sidney Rice of the Vikings, will be undergoing hip surgery and could miss up to 8 weeks! I picked him up fairly high in the draft and am extremely disappointed to hear this.

However, my buddy offered me a trade before any of this ever happened. In the trade I would be getting RB Steve Slaton of the Texans and WR Braylon Edwards of the Jets. I would be losing RB Cedric Benson of the Bengals. I know the Bengals are supposed to be strong this year and Benson is a good player, but I feel I could benefit from this trade in the long run due to my NOW weak WR core.

Thoughts on the trade?

Don't know your entire roster or your scoring format, but on the surface, that's a terrible trade. Steve Slaton may be relegated to kickoff returns and some third down work. The Jets are a running team. Edwards had one good year and there are other options on the Jets (Holmes, Keller, LT out of the backfield). And I think Sanchez is quite overrated -- at the very least, he isn't THAT good of a passer and is more of a game manager. Benson is one of less than a dozen RBs in a "workhorse" role. You don't just give those away -- he's got a good chance at finishing Top 10 RB.

I prefer the 442 formation in real fantasy football, got Drogba upfront with Torres, loads of goals and points

If you have a few other good back options and are desperate I think that would be a fairly good trade.

I will agree w/ this.

Sanchez isn't that good. Edwards drops a lot of balls. Slaton won't see the field that much. And Benson WILL end up being a top 10 back this year. Other than all of that, it's a good trade....................... (I must ask. Are you a newbie to FF?)

I assume that question was for the OP.

But if not, I've played FF for over 20 years (ugh). Back in the late 90s to about the mid-2000s I used to play in several fairly big money leagues (> $1k... easily). It was practically a year round time consuming endeavor. I did quite well, but it stopped being fun long before I quit. Now, I play in a couple local leagues (minimal buy-in... all friends & acquaintances). Preparation for the draft involves maybe catching parts of a few preseason games, a day to read a few sites, and then printing out a cheat sheet (which I only sort've follow)... so I don't always trust my own advice. But I tell you... watching football is a lot more enjoyable now.

Keep Benson. If healthy he'll always produce some yards and a few TDs. Hopefully he's not one of your top two backs though.

It's in the hole!

Sorry, that ignored this thread, but I just recently got internet at my new APT. Fantasy Football started tonight:D I ended up not making the trade that I previously talked about. I think it was the right decision.

Hope all of y'all have a good fantasy season (or at least to the ones participating in a league)

My opponent has Shiancoe and I have Longwell. That Minnesota touchdown was bad all the way around for me. Luckily I only lost one point for the missed extra point. Pierre Thomas got me back in the game with that touchdown.

The only person I had was Devery Henderson...he ended up getting me more points than projected, so I was happy. My opponent didn't have anyone playing last night.
