Aldila VS Proto By You in a Ping G10 - experience with either?

Anyone have experience with the Aldila VS Proto By You shaft?

I've been playing a TM Tour Burner 8.5* for a couple years now and one a whim bought a Ping G10 with that shaft (9 degrees, shaft is the 65-S stiff version) off ebay for $107.

I figure for $107, even if I hate it I can re-sell it for at least $90.

My favorite shaft! Have one in my gamer, just put one in another head (9.5*Alpha V.2 400cc) and one on reserve for the next head....an '09 Burner TP 9.5* I think. It has a Matrix Radix HD7 in it now that balloons on me. All are of the 70g/stiff variety.

My fairway wood is that shaft....It's awesome! I didn't know that shaft cost that much! Wow I got my wood for a steal then!

Just MSRP, now they can be had pretty reasonable if you shop @ the right spots.

OP, I've never played a G10 with a VS Proto, but I do have a 9* G10 with the TFC reg shaft, and I also have a Ping Rapture 10.5* with a VS Proto 65g reg shaft. The 9* G10 is a great head, usually closer to 10* or more in actual loft. I really like mine with the stock shaft. The Rapture is also a really good driver, and the VS Proto shaft is very good. I actually tried a 9* Rapture with a VS Proto stiff shaft, and it was way too low-launching and stiff for me. But bottom line, the G10 is a sweet driver, and the VS Proto is a sweet shaft, so if you have the right loft/flex combination with what you bought, you should be pleased with it.

Thanks for the info - I'm looking forward to it. I know i should get fitted, but for $100 I thought 'what the hell, why not?'

I don't hate my TM, but I'm not as consistent with it as I would like to be. I do love that it's super low spin, though, and I get some good roll-out (especially vs. my old R7 460). I'll post up my thoughts on it when I get it next Monday.

Just got it in the mail today and liked the feel at the range. I think I'm hitting it about as long as my Tour Burner, but it feels a little better on mishits, IMO. Hoping to get it out to the course this week to see it in live action.
