First I am a right handed golfer 5'9" tall.

I have just recentlty started playing again after being away for 10 years. When I quit playing I was at about a 1 or even player and after about a month of work I have gotten back to about a 3-4 handicap.I had played the Ping I3+ Blade when they 1st came out till I quit and have played with them for the last month.I just got a new to me set of Mizuno mp 68's and I am finding it very hard to work the ball with them although the natural shot coming from them seem to be a high fade, now I can get the right to left shot but it is extremely diffucult.I have played a set of mp 33's in the past wich seem to be the exact set as the
68's just different number stamped on them.

The new 68's I think have a larger grip on them ,do you think that might be why I am having difficulity working the golf ball like my i3 blades? I have had the shaft stiffness check and they say they are just barely below a stiff.

Any other thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the larger grip COULD have an effect but i'd assume its minimal.

If anything, you're going from a Ping i3 blade which is extremely forgiving and not really a blade... to a Mizuno MP68 set which is as true blade as you can get. That could be the reason for it.

That's what I was thinking also but I remember hitting my 33's and even those maxfli blades I had at one time without much effort to really work the ball wichever way
I wanted to.The pings are foregiving thats for sure but I am hitting these new mizunos on the money.I think maybe the lie might be a hair flat or something like that, I am going to go
have them checked tomorrow at the pga superstore.

that could do it to. If your impact position isn't right due to your lie being off, then that could cause for a lot of oddities in your ball flight.

Seems like you know what you are after, I'd have the lies checked ASAP with a good fitter and lie board. A hair flat will certainly encourage a fade.

Im going to be 100% honest.

It's your swing. A club being a little to upright or the grips being to big is not going to make s huge difference, don't get me wrong it will make a differnece but you should still be able to work the ball.

First thing I would do is get a lesson and they will be able to tell you what are doing wrong or if it is really the clubs.

You said the shafts are just below a stiff flex. Then "in thoery" the ball should go left not right most of the time, a too soft shaft will go to the left and a shaft that is to stiff will go to the right. (most of the time, not always though)

But I play the 68's extremly easy to work, should be much easier then the I3 witch is really not a blade.

First of all I am coming back from a 16 yrs lay-off and it took me a full year to come back to 6.9 (I played from 5.6 many years ago) and I am still working hard to get a little better. I know what I have lost in these years, it is not my long balls and it is also not my mid irons, but what I lost is feel in the short game and in putting. Knowing how little difference there can be between shooting a round of let's say 85 and 75, I find it very hard to believe you are back at hc 3-4 after a months play ..... I doubt that for sure.

I also played the i3 Blade for a while and I must admit working the ball was a bit easier with these, however apart form the name it had little to do with being a blade.

Did you have the shafts checked, how did they do that, and why ? .... a stiff shaft is a stiff shaft, and a stiff shaft would make it only easier to fade or work the ball left to right. Working the ball right to left, with a club like the MP-68 should be as easy as can be for 1 or even hc.

The only thing with the i3 Blade was that their lies were pretty flat, so maybe the MP-68 is more upright and also slightly larger grips will maybe prevent a solid release.

But first of all it sounds like a swing issue.

That sounds backwards to me. Aren't blades supposed to be easier to work than non blades?

Lower MOI on blades should make them slightly easier to work (or stated otherwise, harder to hit straight). Not sure how much difference that actually makes, though. I think it's very small. The main thing that makes game-improvement clubs "more forgiving" is that the ball still flies pretty far when you miss the sweet spot, whereas with blades you really get punished distance-wise for off-center hits.

I was actually speaking from general ball striking stand point. Going from Ping i3's to true blades can have an effect on ball striking. But yes, blades are easier to work but only if you have solid ball striking.

I had the lie checked today and they were 2 degrees flat, this should help alot to get them where they should be.As far as those of you that dont believe that there are golfers out there that can be good in just a fews years I feel sorry for you because there are and I happen to be one of them.I started golfing in 1999 and quit in 2001 just before I had almost made a decision to try and go to Q school . I have gotten back into this wonderful game and intend to try my original goal again, and yes golfing to me is something like riding a bike..... once you know how to do it you'll never forget it....but the short game takes a little extra work LOL.Two months ago when I played my fist round since 2001 I shot a 82 and now playing a course with a 142 slope and 7000 yards long playing from the tips I am averaging 74-78 ,if I can put better then I should be in the hunt 1 birdie a round isnt cutting it.

Anyways thanks for the replys to those who actually sounded sincere,as I was hoping this site was going to be a cool one not one where people have to argue
about this or that.
