I played a G5 most of this summer and it was the best club I had. I also played a Tour Edge Exotics with different shafts in it and a Launcher Comp with different shafts in it. The Rapture is FAR beyond them all. You have to try it to understand.

'Grats on the new purchase.

I don't know about pricing in the U.S. but up here (Canada) that club is a 100 bucks more than any other driver. I just can't do it.

I've seen some guys hitting it though, and the club seems to posses some really appreciable length over some other clubs. (for some people)

Out of curiousity, was it just the shape of the Hi-bore that turned you off of it? or was it just the sheer distance consideration? (I am considering a Hibore myself).

Shape of Hi-Bore didn't bother me a bit. It's a machine. I've never hit a club that gave me Absolutely identical distance and almost no dispersion shot after shot after shot. Very amazing club. I loved the club but I needed distance and that (with what they had in shafts) couldn't beat the Rapture. Nothing else could either.

I have 3 HiBores and each one is an arrow, when paired up with the right shaft. The trick I've noticed with this head is play a loft a little lower than normal and with a shaft that provides ample kick.

I've demo'd the Rapture with a UST V2 85 and that also was a rocket. I'd say the Rapture head gives the FT-3 a good run. Glad to hear you settled on a driver and I'll hope it sticks around in your bag for quite a while.

A friend has a HiBore and another important trick is to tee it low. If you tee it too high you'll lose distance big time and won't see what a great club it is. I tried the UST V2 75 in the HiBore 9.5 degree and it still launched too high. They didn't have the HiBore in any shaft that fit me. The 9 degree Rapture with the NVS 65 stiff was just perfect.

I got nine holes in today with my long ball hitting buddy. He's 300+ and I'm always 40 yards behind him. Not today. The farthest he was up was 10 yards and I matched him most of the time. Mine were all in the fairway, half of his were. I'm really happy with this. It's performing on the course exactly as the launch monitor said. 260-280 carry and straight. I rolled a couple out to 300. I have never before "consistently" approached this distance and I had mostly short irons in and I can hit short irons.

    • I'm good with the bunkers, and the fairways are SUPER wide. Three yards should stop a ball that isn't landing in it from rolling into the hay.
    • I'm a little behind, but I just finished listening to the episode about practicing while on vacation.  I have two vacations coming up this month that I won't be bringing golf clubs with me on, and this was perfectly timed (I'm sure I am not the only one going on vacation in June).   Especially the part about stretching.  I keep putting off adding stretching, with golf in mind, to my daily routine.  I think I'm going to use these upcoming vacations, the first of which I'm flying off to on Thursday, as a way to get into this habit.   For anyone else interested, Fit For Golf (see sidebar) has fantastic stretching routines (some of which, I think, are on their free area).  I really should get back to doing their main exercises too.  I don't have any affiliation with them beyond "satisfied customer," in case that sounds like an ad. I may end up posting in the 5 minutes thread when I do golf stretches if it's my only practice that day... as if I don't already sound like a broken mp3 with my 10-15 minutes hitting indoors part. And back to the topic:  anyone not caught up on the podcast should consider catching up and listen to that episode, especially if you're going on a non-golf vacation this summer and want some practice ideas that aren't the at-home practice routine from LSW about long bunker shots (which I am sure we all do regularly).
    • Mostly pull cuts to slices. Some random pull draw/hooks pending of I hit the toe.
    • What's the rest of that story? Where was the ball going?
    • The criticisms are starting already 🤣 U.S. Open pro criticizes Shinnecock green conditions: 'Bumpy' After playing his first practice round at the 2026 U.S. Open, Michael Kim offered a less-than-glowing review of Shinnecock's "bumpy" greens.   The sand, I don't care about that. If the greens didn't come back as well for latest aerification, that would be a bit of a blunder on Shinnecock I think.
