DBake,

What are you trying to accomplish with your wedges by getting that grind on them? Wedge grinds are extremely personal and very dependant on the conditions you play in and how you use your wedges from the fairway and around the greens. If you can describe that, I might be able to help you find a wedge grind which will suit your game a bit better. Their "J" grind looks to be a rather severe P grind. Not the best of choices unless you are playing from very tightly cut, hard fairways with a closed face, and thick rough and fluffy sand around the greens.

DBake,

Thanks for the reply, I am currently useing Mizuno T's 53.08 and 58.10, most likely selling these for the new Mizuno R's 52.07 and 58.10 some time. For the 52 would like to open this club up a tiny bit to us on green chip chips and pitches as well as hitting the normal full shot. My guess for the 52 is taking some bounce off the heel? As for the 58 I would like to use from the fair as green side bunkers and tall/thicker rough.

I recently got a 60-04 Vokey with the GTO grind from them. It is an unreal club. I love the way I can open or close the clubface with no change in bounce angles. I'd take a look at this grind if you are gonna do it. Get them to hit your grooves too. Talk about some bite.....

If anyone is looking at these guys to do some work for you, I give my full endorsement as a guy who LOVES his clubs, and who has no affiliation with them. I wonder if their "thermobonding" process is as advertised for drivers.

I have the same doubts...

Honestly the J Grind, is just stupid, I like to grind myself and I have some of Nomad's products and they have better grinds you should choose from, honestly, the J Grind won't affect performance unless you want a lighter club.

What grinds do you suggest, for me? See the post above about what I am looking to do with my 52 and 58.

Go with the GTO. It gives you so many shots.

It sounds like a bit of heel relief on the 52 would be perfect.

As for the 58, if you plan on using it with a mostly square face, I would simply buy the 58.10 and keep it as is. The club has a fair amount of bounce, but still quite a bit of heel, toe, and trailing edge relief which will allow you to open it as needed around the greens. I'm pretty impressed with the MP-R stock grind.

    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
