Is there a grip that is better for a wedge? Pelz sells a grip that is made my Winn, slightly longer and with less taper. However, it looks like other Winn simulated wrap grips.

Has anyone had a preference for any grip other than their regular iron grip on their wedges (which I will define as clubs above 50° loft).

Thanks,

David

6 out of 7 fairways today on 9. On the seventh, the ball rolled onto the fairway.

Personally I believe and use the same grips for my irons and my wedges. I don't believe or recommend that people mix and match their grips unless common clubs are the same (woods, irons, wedges). I know some people that prefer a firmer grip on wedges because they feel it provides better feedback.....so really what I'm getting at is that it's a personal preference.

Here are some other threads that talk about peoples preferences.

on all my wedges i use full corded grips... the reason is that i take off my glove on anything but full shots for wedges an my hand kept on slipping a little so the corded grips do great...

I have tried a winn grip of one of my friends and I found it extremely good. It gives you a good feel of the club and at the same time, it gives you brilliant grip

has anyone been fitted for grip sizes during a custom fitting session? if so, how much difference does it make?

David,

Don't waste time or money trying to obtain the "Pelz" branded grips. It is very easy to make a less tapered grip by simply wrapping extra tape under the lower hand portion of the grip and then simply apply double sided tape and install the grip. This is an old trick many faders of the golf ball often use to since a thicker grip in the lower hand is more difficult to turn over.

Johnnyallthetime,

Getting fit for grip size is crucial, but sadly is often overlooked. Any fitting session should begin with hand measurements and allow the customer to demo a variety of grip sizes. With out a proper fit for grip size, players with undersized grips often strangle the grip leading to excess tension and reduced grip life both of which can adversely effect your swing. Players with oversized grips have problems with accuracy and control.

    • Like who? The dude won on a tough set up with a cold putter. I mean, where do we go from here? They had to throw him in jail to keep him from winning one. No one has been on a run like this since 2007. It's like watching someone go to the office and clickity-clack away at the typewriter over and over each day writing history and there ain't a thing anyone can do about it.  Give it up y'all. He just too good.
    • He’s paid to look like a character from the movie ‘ Half Baked’ while playing some pretty dismal golf. He once stated he had some pretty terrible people around him and had to cut them out. So I guess he figured adding Greg Norman and some human rights violators was a solid move.😵‍💫
    • This snuck up on me. Maybe it's because I've got daddy issues and never remember Father's Day ever since he told my mom that he didn't have the time to see me more often....   Let's go anyone but Scheffler! Or Brian Harman! Or....forget it, the list is too long. (Grrr it won't let me capitalize "the" in the title)
