I am just now gettin back onto the course again after havin to take a year off with a back and wrist injury and being stuck in Iraq/Afghanistan so I guess I wasn't gonna get to play much anyway!! Now that I'm back in Kuwait I had to get my golf membership back since I'm 100% healthy. My 3 rounds overall weren't so bad because I don't three putt much but my ball striking and distance control were absolutey horrible. In my opinion the worst thing that can happen to a golfer on the course is to be missing shots both left and right because the trouble is never straight ahead!! I knew my swing path was fine because I could see the club trackin on the correct path but I was either leaving the face open or closing it way to much and hitting nasty pull snap hooks!! Thats brings me to my only swing thought that I have standing over a shot:

I tell myself to try and "throw the BACKSIDE of the club at the target" during my swing.
This swing thought helps me to ensure that I fully release the club and don't hold back which leaves my clubface open and invites disaster in! What is crazy is that simple thought instantly, and I mean instantly corrected my ballstriking and made it much crisper. I also don't miss left anymore unless I'm trying to play a fade. At first I thought this was a temporary find but I've been to the range many times since and I am convinced that I've found it. I took it to the course and shot 84 in only my 5th round of the year. My other scores on the surface were 92's and 93's but I wasn't hitting any fairways or greens in regulation and I had no clue where my golf ball was goin so my round was filled with stress and tension! I am just glad that I can play pain free again but of course everyone wants to shoot their best possible scores and enjoy the game. Gotta love this game!

    • Yes.  Did he not hit the range before the round? When my first few pre-round drives aren't what I expect, the first thing I check is my driver settings, in case they changed.  I am on my second adjustable driver and I am still not trusting that golf gremlins don't change it between rounds. The second thing I check is my alignment and setup, and that is far more often the culprit than my settings. In any case, there are some simple things that I imagine should be on a professional player's pre-round checklist that I am surprised when they aren't.  One of those is the settings for any adjustable clubs.
    • It was also set at B1 at a previous event, and… so there's dubiousness around whether he's telling the truth (again).
