I am currently using the regular flex, 10.5 Taylormade R9 460 driver. I am looking to get a little more distance and seriously considering the Supertri. I have hit with it at my local pro shop several times. The only thing I am wondering is how the loft compares to the r9 460. I have read several reviews saying the 10.5 is way too much loft compared to other drivers. Is this true? I like the ball flight of my r9 460 and would like to keep it similar.

Thanks!

I'm skeptical that changing from a R9460 to a R9 Supertri will yield actual distance gains. What is your ballflight with your current driver? Have you considered reshafting the R9 460?

I have never had it measured or anything, but it is pretty high. I'v noticed that unlike other players i play with, my drives start high and carry. My dad for example, his drives start as a line drive and then take off. I don't know if this is telling you anything?

You won't gain miraculously 10 yards with the Supertri. If your drives start high and you want to flatten the ball flight a little, why don't you get fitted for a new shaft instead? Definitely cheaper.

p.s. yes, the supertri head spins a bit more than the previous generation.

I have just upgraded my 07 burner to the supertri. And WOW!! I found a more penetrating ball flight in the 9.5 but even when I put it in neutral upright which effectively is 10.5 I still got good carry into the wind(215 meters) usually bout 230-240. I only had 4 hits and it really straightened out my slice. Havent touched the MWT yet. In short if I had a R9 driver I probably wouldn't waste money upgrading yet but in my case mine was 3 years old and too spinny(balloony).

IMHO the supertri is spinny but not as spinny as the burner range. This is from my experience with my swing though. Im getting the same distance with the R9 as the burner and once i dial it in more, i feel i will be able to swing more naturally which may allow me to gain more distance.

i actually just got back from dicks. I went with the victory red driver with a voodoo shaft. I hit with my driver, the supertri, and the nike. I hit the nike the best out of the three.
